Flo Charger Install for Gescan

March 25, 2024

Gescan is a wholesaler of electrical products in Edmonton and BLDG often sources parts and products from them for a variety of Industrial, Commercial, MRO & Residential projects. The branch management team asked BLDG to install two Core+ Max 19.2kW Level 2 EV Chargers by Flo in their parking lot.

At a high-level, this project is part of Gescan’s deployment of chargers across Canada as part of the federal government’s #ZEVIP program.

What Sets Flo Apart From the Alternatives

First off, Flo is a Canadian brand and has a solid history in the EV charging solutions. It’s Core+ Max product is quite unique in that it is one of the available units on the market that has an 19.2kw charging output. What’s more, FLO’s PowerSharing™ technology allows various charging stations to distribute shared power. Locations with numerous charging stations can implement PowerSharing™ directly at the circuit breaker. This is particularly advantageous in scenarios where individual circuits for each charging station are not accessible.

For our work with Gescan, they did request that we install a new panel and retrofit a new breaker retrofit, so that the chargers could have their own separate breaker.

Things we like about Core+ Max:

  • 24/7 EV driver phone support
  • Charging power: 1.2 kW to 19.2 kW
  • Energy Star Certified
  • Operating temperature: -40°C to +50°C
  • Light weight: 21 lbs / 9.53 kg Charging station | 32 lbs / 14.5 kg Pedestal
  • FLO’s 98% uptime performance promise
